I was at a house that was a new location for a Mexican family that I was associated with. They had taken this new house after the old place they were living was given up for reasons unknown. It was an interesting location ‘cos it was next to a couple of businesses. One was a sort of auditorium, and the other was a food and bar location, but not really a restaurant, more of a vending window. The thing that was most odd is that all of this was way off the main road, back in the trees. You wouldn’t know it was all there unless you knew it was there. I kept thinking that this place must get really noisy when there’s an event. I recall some pretty loud music at one point, but I could imagine it being really quiet when it was closed. There was incredibly beautiful peace of wood that the family man had found. It was literally glowing with golden inner wood, somewhat covered by bark. But the most amazing with this indigo coloured stone embedded in the wood. I was beautiful but it had been broken apart because it was very fragile. I felt kind of sad that it was broken. I asked where it came from. Someone told me that the family man had found it. It was a big deal to the indigenous population because it represented an initiation to find such a thing. I recall wondering whether this was the case on finding this here or not. It seemed like if this was so significant, the stone wouldn’t be broken, but I didn’t know. They didn’t seem to care about it quite that much so I was a little confused about what was going on.
I’m in Mazatlan, in the back of a store or club. At first, I don’t understand where I am, but I see Anthony. He takes me into the front of the store which is filled with electronic equipment, but there are also people partying in there. There are TV’s catching images of the people there, there’s a lot of music. I’m looking around and notice that Anthony is making out with a tall asian man. After a few minutes of this (typical Anthony) he brings him over and introduces me haphazardly. We leave the store/club and go out into the streets and are walking around. I’m struck by how clean everything is. There seems to be an order to everything that’s remarkable. The average age is young, but there seems to be a responsibility for everyone and no one’s leeching off the system and it seems really together. I like it there. We end up on a bus and I’m pulling up my pant leg ‘cos I have apparently injured my ankle and wrapped it with cellophane to support it. There are three girl tourists on the bus and they’re wearing clear plastic as well. I recall some big woman yelling out at one of these girls that she’s infinitesimally vapid or something like that. Next thing I remember, I’m with Mel, and we’re giving our bags to someone from a cruise line in exchange for tickets. Later we board at a different location but can’t seem to figure out where to pick up our bags.
I was standing in line at a movie theatre for a film with my mother. She was acting really strange and talking incessantly and wouldn’t stop. She kept incorrectly using phrases and the people around her kind of trying to ignore her. The escalator broke down and we had to use a staircase to go into the movie when they finally called us in.
Thoughts: Interesting about the Mexican family and Mazatlan, then my mom. Initiation that doesn’t seem significant to someone else, but does to me. In Mazatlan, a world that seems orderly with Anthony who doesn’t seem orderly to me at all, maybe describing an illusion. Locations are still unknown.
